Dreams Take Flight Calgary has been taking deserving children with special needs from Southern Alberta to Disneyland since 1993.
Dreams Take Flight stretches children’s minds. As poet Oliver Wendell Holmes wrote, “One’s mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions.” For a very long and exciting day, deserving children live an adventure in a world-renowned theme park in California or Florida. All expenses paid—thanks to sponsors and volunteers.
In an ideal world, everyone would have a roof over their head, clothes, shoes, food and a bed but that is not the case, even in Calgary.
When Stephen spoke of a dream to help children in need, we recognized that this was not just a dream, but a vision of how things could be. We now consider ourselves charged with the task of casting that vision before us and our communities so that we can bring hope and support to those in need in our community.
Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids invites and empowers people in communities to feed and care for these kids, so they can grow up to reach their full potential.
Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids (BB4CK) mission is to work with local schools to identify hungry kids and ways to feed them. We know that children require healthy food to be able to focus on their education and become the best that they can be.
Dedicated to honouring the importance of the human-animal bond by helping vulnerable Calgarians with their pets before they turn to shelters.
Parachutes for Pets understands and celebrates the human-animal bond and proactively works toward building strong community support systems to protect the connection between people and their animals.
An inclusive community where people with disabilities reach their individual potential and are recognized as valued citizens.
Between Friends has been offering social and recreational programs in Calgary and the surrounding area for over 30 years. Through our programs, we endeavor to benefit all people and increase the community’s awareness, positive attitudes, and sensitivity towards their fellow citizens with disabilities.
Helping Families Handle Cancer Foundation is here to help make difficult times for families a little easier by providing financial support to families whose child is battling cancer.
A Not-For-Profit Organization specifically designed to aid families financially while they are dealing with cancer. Cancer creates an enormous strain on a family, both emotionally and financially. We aim to alleviate some of this stress by providing monetary support to those in need.
Though the Emergency Shelter is the cornerstone of the organization, it is “More than a Shelter”, serving approximately 15,000 clients each year through a number of innovative safety, healing and prevention programs.
The Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter is focused on ending family violence and abuse in the lives of women, children, youth and men. Taking a Stand Against Family Violence in the community since 1974, the agency has helped close to 230,000 Calgarians build safe lives and healthy relationships. We are on the front lines to provide hope and support to some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
